Common Ground adds Lansing-area acts, free matinee show

Wednesday, May 14 — New performances have been added to this year’s Common Ground Music Festival. Local rockers the People’s Temple and Joe Hertler & the Rainbow Seekers have been added to the lineup that included the Violent Femmes, Earth, Wind & Fire and Big Sean. The 15th annual summer fest will take place July 8-13. 


Other additions include Julia Sheer, Hugh Bob & the Hustle and Chelsey Danfield, who join the country-heavy Thursday lineup. Previous announcements for that night include Justin Moore, David Nail and Gord Bamford and Jacob Powell.


On the Friday hip hop schedule, Ace Hood, Machine Gun Kelly, Chevy Woods, Berner, Tay Rhodes, cyRus, L Soul, Ill Natured, Hitman with DJ Klaverflav and James Gardin will join Juicy J and Big Sean.


The lineup for Saturday, July 12 will now include Jukebox The Ghost and the People’s Temple.

The Common Ground Music Festival will also include a free matinee show for the second year. Performances by Ryan Beatty and Action Item will be apart of the family event on Saturday. The show comes with an optional VIP upgrade, which includes meet-and-greet with the bands for $25.


The last acts added to the festival are the Robert Glasper Experiment, Joe Hertler & The Rainbow Seekers, ASHAN and Dee Hibbert & Company on Sunday. These acts will join Earth, Wind and Fire.

Wednesday, July 9:  311, Violent Femmes, The Wailers, Flobots, OPM, The4ontheFloor, Radical Something, The Weeks, Squirrel Shaped Fish, Ben Kenney.

Thursday, July 10: Justin Moore, David Nail, Gord Bamford, Jacob Powell, Julia Sheer, Hugh Bob & the Hustle, Chelsey Danfield.

Friday, July 11: Big Sean, Juicy J, Ace Hood, Machine Gun Kelly, Chevy Woods, Berner, Tay Rhodes, cyRus, L Soul, Ill Natured, Hitman with DJ Klaverflav, James Gardin.

Saturday, July 12: Fitz and the Tantrums, Dr. Dog, Jukebox The Ghost, Dale Earnhardt Jr Jr, The Orwells, X Ambassadors, Royal Teeth, Chappo, The People’s Temple, Ryan Beatty, Action Item.

Sunday, July 13: Earth Wind & Fire, the Robert Glasper Experiment, Joe Hertler & the Rainbow Seekers, AHSAN, Dee Hibbert & Company.
