Locally shot film gets weeklong run at Celebration! Cinema

Posted

Friday, Sept. 19 — “Buffalo,” the fourth feature film from Lansing filmmaker Michael McCallum, receives a special weeklong run at Celebration! Cinema starting Sunday.

Shaken by the sudden death of his ex-wife, a taxi driver (William McCallum, the filmmaker’s father) steals a cab from his job and sets out on a cross-country trip to find the son he hasn't seen in more than 30 years.

“I had wanted to cast my father in a lead role for many years,” McCallum said. “He and I constructed (the plot) from fiction, but included similar events from his life.”

The film was shot entirely in mid-Michigan featuring all local talent. After this week’s screenings, McCallum plans to send “Buffalo” to a string of statewide, national and international film festivals.
