TUESDAY, MARCH 24 — BackStage Pass returned to WKAR last week for its sixth season. The award winning, Michigan-made music showcase kicked off with Harper and Midwest Kind’s live performance at last year’s BluesFest in Old Town.
“It was a pleasure working again with the good folks at both the Lansing JazzFest and Old Town BluesFest,” said Timothy Zeko, WKAR television executive producer. “They make our production team feel very welcome and do everything they can to help us capture the best music performances.”
Zeko has been the series producer for BackStage Pass since its debut in 2009. Season six includes 20 new episodes of jazz and blues recorded live at festivals in mid-Michigan. Most artists appearing on the show will be featured across two 30-minute episodes, a new twist this season.
“While everyone has a favorite artist, stand-out shows for me include Harper & Midwest Kind, Hank Mowery and the Hawktones and Root Doctor,” Zeko said.
Full episodes will be available online following each first broadcast at video.wkar.org.
