'Dark Play' gets another weekend of play

Posted

Peppermint Creek Theatre's outstanding production of Dark Play, or Stories for Boys was one of the highlights of last weekend's Renegade Theatre Festival. If you missed it, don't make the same mistake twice: The twisted comedy-drama (directed by Lela Ivey) will be performed at 9 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday in The Warehouse, 305 Beaver St. Admission is free.

Set in Southern California, Dark Play unfolds like a modern-day Dangerous Liaisons, as a tech-savvy 14-year-old boy creates a virtual dream girl to captivate a love-starved 16-year-old, who placed a personal ad online. The exceptionally fine cast includes Hazen Cuyler, Joe Quick, Angela Mishler, Dana Brazil and Brian DeVries.

Renegade organizer Chad Badgero reports the festival brought in more than 2,000 patrons in its three-day run.
