Ginning up excitement

American Fifth spirits set to release newest product, Capital Gin

Posted

MONDAY, Nov. 23 — American Fifth Spirits, Lansing’s first distillery, will launch its newest product, Capital Gin, tomorrow at the American Fifth Spirits’ downtown tasting room. Made from seven botanicals, including juniper, ginger and lemon peel, Capital Gin overlays spices with fruity overtones.

“Capital Gin has a flavor profile traditional gin drinkers will enjoy because of the juniper and citrus flavors, and I hope to attract non-gin drinkers with the addition of non-traditional flavor components,” said Rick Wyble, head distiller.

A Lansing-made product, Capital Gin’s label features a stylized take on the Capitol rotunda.

“We thought it’s something uniquely Lansing,” Wyble said. “The rotunda is such an iconic feature of the building.”

Along with Tuesday’s Capital Gin release, the tasting room will unveil a new selection of cocktails. Bottles available for purchase. Capital Gin will be available in select stores, restaurants and bars in early December.
