Good day on this wintry Monday.

For those combating difficult health issues, the emotional support of friends, family and peers is just as valuable as medical care.

Sparrow Hospital offers monthly support groups for a variety of illnesses, and today the General Cancer Support Group meets. Other groups related to specific kinds of cancers meet each month as well. For a schedule of which groups meet when, see sparrow.org/cancer-community.

7-9 p.m. Sparrow Professional Building, 1200 E. Michigan Ave., Lansing. (517) 364-5471.
