Here's what's going on in town today

Good day on this cold Monday.

Today is Martin Luther King Jr. Day, and around town several seminars and speeches will be taking place to commemorate the civil rights leader and the causes he stood for.

One is MLK: The Fight Against Hate Crimes, featuring keynote speaker Jocelyn Benson, founder of the Michigan Allies Project, a group that tracks hate incidents throughout Michigan and provides legal support for victims. There will be music by the Earl Nelson Singers, a Q&A and lunch. 11:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. FREE. International Center, 427 N. Shaw Lane, East Lansing.

Another is the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday Luncheon. Politician, diplomat, activist and pastor Andrew Young discusses peace and justice at the Lansing Center.
