Good day on this partly cloudy Friday.

If you’re looking for an excuse to bust out that Viking helmet sitting in the back of your closet, the Nordic Fire Festival, a brand new festival celebrating ancient Scandinavian culture, comes to Charlotte this weekend. The festival kicks off today with a torch processional and ship burning, fire dancers, food and music and continues Saturday with a full day of family-friendly activities, including costume, horn-blowing and hammer-throwing contests. The three-day event wraps up Sunday with a traditional archery tournament, a sword-fighting demonstration and more. 6-11 p.m. Friday; 9 a.m.-11 p.m. Saturday; 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday. FREE. Lincoln Park, 620 W. Shepherd St., Charlotte. michigannordicfirefestival.weebly.com.

Undersea goes onstage this week as the Owosso Community Players open their production of Disney's "The Little Mermaid." For three weekends in a row, the show aims to please the crowd with movement, music, color and elaborate costumes — some of which light up. Feb. 26-Mar. 11. 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, 3 p.m. Sundays. $20/$18 students and seniors/$10 kids. Lebowsky Center, 122 E. Main St., Owosso. (989) 723-4003, owossoplayers.com.
