Homegrown talent takes center state Tuesday as the Building Child and Family Initiatives Empowerment Center presents An Evening of Artistic Excellence with violinist Melissa White and pianist/vocalist Alvin Waddles. The benefit concert celebrates the center’s 30 years of service to the Greater Lansing area. White, an alum of the Building Child and Family Initiatives, is an in-demand chamber musician and founding member of the Harlem Quartet. She is joined Tuesday by Waddles, a Detroit-based artist who has served as pianist or musical director for numerous Detroit musical theater performances.
