1/2 and 1/2 Special — Eastside Fish Fry

Posted

It’s no secret that Eastside Fish Fry has killer fried fish. The shop took home this year’s Top of the Town award for Best Fish Fry, after all. But the Kalamazoo Street joint also cooks a mean chicken wing. So what does one do when you can’t decide between fish and fowl?

Fortunately, Eastside meets you halfway. The 1/2 and 1/2 Special dinner pairs lightly breaded chicken wings and cat fish nuggets. The deep-fried goodies are served on a bed of French fries and the whole thing is dusted with Eastside’s salty and spicy seasoning mix. You could dip these things in ranch or tartar sauce, but why would you? They have a flavor that stands alone. To round out the meal, Eastside throws in a dinner roll.

If you’d rather skip the fish entirely, check out the chicken and waffles. This Southern staple features a whole chicken wing or two chicken tenders on top of a made-to-order waffle and served with butter and syrup. This is comfort food at its country-fried finest.
