The Runway Lansing and LCC celebrate collaboration with fashion show

Posted

THURSDAY, Oct. 20 — The Runway Lansing and Lansing Community College team up tonight to celebrate the one-year anniversary of their collaboration and the two-year anniversary of the fashion incubator. The event features a high-energy fashion show where East Lansing’s Belle Row Boutique will debut its exclusive Fall 2016 collection.

“Lansing’s fashion retail profile is on the rise, and we are showcasing that during Thursday’s event,” said Devon Bradley, owner of Belle Row Boutique. “The fashion show and events throughout the evening will highlight the importance of partnerships in branding Lansing as an innovative destination for entrepreneurs.”

The Runway Lansing, funded by the Lansing Economic Area Partnership, was launched in 2014. It’s downtown location provides a creative space, education, programming and resources for fashion designers to form their businesses and allowing them the opportunity to produce their collections and ultimately move their product to market.

“The Runway continues to thrive thanks to our many partnerships, including our key sponsor, Foster Swift Collins & Smith, PC, who provided legal services, financial support and valuable guidance to team members,” said Joe Carr, start-up incubation manager for LEAP and the Runway Lansing “These strong collaborations are essential to the continued growth and success of The Runway.”

In 2015, The Runway partnered with LCC to bring fashion education, resources and start-up assistance to entrepreneurs in the design industry.

“Our partnership with the Runway is an opportunity to introduce students to the fashion and retail industry,” said LCC President Brent Knight. “The incubator provides them with a workshop and resources to help get their businesses off the ground.”

“The Runway Lansing exemplifies what a strong entrepreneurial ecosystem can do when creative energy and strong partnerships collide,” said Bob Trezise, president & CEO of LEAP. “Incubators play a big part in our local economy, and LEAP’s New Economy Division is providing startups with the intellectual capital, contacts and resources to grow their business and ensure success.”
