Good day on this potentially rainy Wednesday.

Lansing had its own Babe Ruth, but instead of a baseball player, ours was a pilot. Read about Marion "Babe" Weyant Ruth and a new book about her in this City Pulse article by Bill Castanier.

Happy almost-Halloween! With just under a week to go until the day your kids come home with a pillowcase full of sweets, Eastwood Towne Center offers families to get a head start on the sugar rush. Local businesses offer up treats and other activities. At the Capital Area District Library's booth, "Michigan Chillers" author Johnathan Rand signs books and greets visitors. 4-6 p.m. FREE.
