‘Happy in Holt’ unveiled

"Art is about choices, and this community values art, placemaking and overall resident enjoyment,” said C.J. Davis, Delhi Township supervisor. “Therefore, we choose to support public art.”

“Happy in Holt” was made possible by a $10,000 placemaking grant from the Lansing Economic Area Partnership, better known as LEAP. The sculpture is the 19th piece of public art funded by LEAP’s Public Art for Communities grant program, which LEAP President & CEO Bob Trezise describes as “vital to the Lansing region’s growth.”

The Public Art for Communities grant program, now in its fifth year, has awarded grants to the cities of Charlotte, DeWitt, East Lansing, Grand Ledge, Lansing, Mason and St. Johns, as well as Delhi, Delta, DeWitt and Meridian townships.

“It encourages civic pride, promotes tourism and helps build a strong economy,” Trezise said. “LEAP understands the impact placemaking is having on the Lansing region by creating a global brand where businesses attract and retain world-class talent, communities thrive through art and diversity is celebrated in all its forms.”
