The Asking asks fans to help fund new album

Posted

Greg and Kate House, also known as musical duo the Asking, have been married for 11 years and playing music together since they were 14. The Lansing-based couple are seeking their fans’ help to fund a follow-up album to their 2015 debut, the six-song “The Asking” EP. The duo has launched a Kickstarter campaign to fund the album.

“We are independent artists, so we don't have the creative and financial backing of a record company to pay to record, produce and distribute an album,” the duo writes on their Kickstarter page.

The duo is raising funds to record and produce a full-length album. They plan to go into the recording studio for two weeks in April to record everything, which consists of eight original songs and two covers. They hope to release the physical album to Kickstarter backers in May and then release it to the public in June.

The campaign ends March 23, and so far the duo has raised over $3,000. The total cost of the album is $6,000, and the duo plans to put their own money forward to cover the difference. Rewards from donors range from early digital download and autographed hard copies to music lessons and private house concerts.

“Your support acts like a pre-sale and helps cover the costs of releasing the album as they occur,” the duo writes.

The Asking’s first EP is available for streaming at their website, theaskingband.com.
