Welcome to the Weekend.

Some of the biggest names in local music take a jazzy stroll through St. Joseph Park Saturday. Organissimo, led by Lansing’s own Jim Alfredson, is joined MSU trombone Professor Michael Dease and vocalist Freddie Cunningham for an afternoon of live music in the park. The event, said organizers Westside Neighborhood Association and Summer Solstice Jazz Festival, is designed “to increase goodwill between Lansing and East Lansing through music and to raise the visibility of the festival throughout the area.” Attendees are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs or blankets. 1-4 p.m. FREE. St. Joseph Park, 2125 Hillsdale St., Lansing. (517) 319-6980, eljazzfest.com.
