On this day in 1940, McDonalds opened their first restaurant in San Bernardino, Calif. The fast food chain still remains popular today, despite healthy eating crazes and questionable ingredients that McDonalds has used in the past.

Studies have shown that reading with your children, even from a very young age can promote brain function and a healthy appetite for learning. Today in Lansing there's a free class called Literature and Poetry Babytime at the East Lansing Public Library at 950 Abbot Road, East Lansing. There will be rhymes, finger plays and more.
