Common Ground producers announce new music festival

Posted

THURSDAY, May 18 — The producers of Common Ground Music Festival announced today a new music festival coming to Adado Riverfront Park in September. MiEntertainment Group (formerly Meridian Entertainment Group) is teaming up with the Columbus-based Breakaway Music Festival brand to produce PRIME Music Festival, which will hit Lansing September 15 and 16.

“We are excited to expand the fall music festival scene in the mid-Michigan region” said Jenna Meyer, marketing director of MiEntertainment Group.

MiEntertainment Group has produced the Common Ground Music Festival since 2000, bringing over 1 million guests to the mid-Michigan area and an estimated economic impact of over $60 million. In partnership with the company is Prime Social Group, known for its major stake in Midwest events including Breakaway Music Festival, which has expanded into multiple markets, and the largest college music festival in the country, #Fest.

The festival falls on the same weekend as Michigan Bluesfest, a free, two-day music festival held in Old Town. While PRIME has not announced any performers, a statement released by the organizers promises an “urban aesthetic, which will pair perfectly with the billing.” The festival will announce some of the headliners Thursday, May 25, but a limited number of “early bird” tickets ($40/$70 VIP) will be available before that, with sales starting Friday at 10 a.m. at primelansing.eventbrite.com.

“The city of Lansing, as well as the music scene in Michigan, is flourishing,” said Adam Lynn, managing partner of Prime Social Group. “This festival will bring those big name artists to the Midwest, but also some of the ‘next big things,’ and we cannot wait to share the lineup soon.”
