What's Up in Lansing: Hockey - The Musical

Posted

Interested in seeing a musical that is fun for theatre and sports-lovers alike? Then “Hockey – The Musical!” Might be just what you’re looking for. The new Mitch Albom musical is returning for a second season this year, and today it debuts in Lansing for the first time at the Wharton center.

“We make the joke that this is the perfect couples musical, because if the woman is a theater fan and the guy hates musicals, the guy will go for the sports, but the woman will go because of all that singing and dancing. It’s much cheaper than going to a couples therapist.

The story takes place on a stage with very few props, but with multiple cameos from famous hockey players, due to a large screen in the back of the theatre. The story revolves around hockey fans saving their sport from divine destruction.

Hockey- The Musical! Hockey fans save their sport in a play by Mitch Albom. 7:30 p.m. $35. Wharton Center for Performing Arts, 750 E. Shaw Lane, East Lansing. (517) 353-1982.
