What's Up in Lansing: Creepy Crafts

Posted

Halloween is just around the corner and what better way to celebrate than by creating some art? Children ages 8 to 12 can drop in any time between 3:30 and 4:30 p.m. to get involved in creating a Halloween-themed creation.

Studies show that there might be benefits to crafting similar to that of meditation. This is a concept first described by Psychologist Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi, who described becoming completely absorbed in an activity that nothing else matters as “flow.” Crafting, along with other means of relaxing activities can help activate this beneficial state, which can increase happiness, reduce stress and protect the brain from aging damage.
