TUESDAY, May 8 — The Margarita Fest field is shaping up with the addition of five more mid-Michigan establishments that will compete for best margarita on June 1.

“That brings it to nine — and we are limiting competition to 15, so we’re more than halfway there,” said Berl Schwartz, editor and publisher of City Pulse, which is cohosting the event with the Lansing Entertainment and Public Facilities Authority.

The new additions are the Radisson Hotel, El Azteco in East Lansing, American Fifth , Houlihan’s and Grand River Brewery of Jackson.

They join the Lansing Lugnuts, La Senorita, Bordeaux and MP Social. Schwartz said other area bars and restaurants that want to participate should contact him at (517) 999-5061.

The party is 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday, June 1, along the Grand River outside the Lansing Center. Tickets which are available at bit.ly/2018margaritafest, provide admission, samples from each competitor and music by Don Middlebrook and the Jammin’ DJS.

There will also be food trucks and a full bar. Tickets range from $25 to $40 until May 25, when they go to $35 to $50.

Tickets will be limited to 600, and more than 100 have already been sold. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Ingham County Animal Shelter.
