Lansing 5:01’s Bridge Fest is back again with music, art, food and more.

“We were always a concert by the river, but it was last year that we really decided to expand the footprint of the event,” said director Christopher Sell.

“It starts as far south as the trail next to the Lansing City Market all the way into the Shiawassee Bridge.”

Lansing 5:01, the nonprofit that organizes Bridge Fest, was created by a group of young professionals to promote and showcase Lansing’s opportunities for arts, recreation, nightlight and urban residential living.

“Our main mission is to attract and retain young talent in the Lansing community and we do that through the creation of unique events that are experiential and have a professional element to it,” said Sell.

For this year’s riverside festival, people of all ages are welcome to explore the arts and culture scene featuring a robust artisan village on the city market plaza, live art installations with chalk artists and muralists, recreational games, hula hooping and more.

Among some artists you will get to see are SarahJean Sews, Sara Bishop, Mary Molnar, Jenny Schu, Cassie Little, Craig Horky, Kimberly Lavon, Noah Maldonado, Happy Girl Granola, Sarah Edwards, Jenna Lennon and many more.

A stage will be specially constructed under the Shiawassee Bridge for musical acts Rent Strike, Michigander and Frontier Ruckus.

“We saw an opportunity for a concert space under the Shiawassee Bridge and many people in the Lansing area thought this was a really cool place to have a concert.”

The list of other activities includes kayaking at River Town Adventures, hula hooping on the lawn, yard games, a pop up farmers market, and a hammock hangout by the stage. There is also a food truck rally featuring local favorites like the Shove It Pizza Truck.

“We want people of all ages to come and just have a good time in downtown Lansing at this fun event, and since it is free we encourage everyone to bring their friends and family.”
