The Michigan LGBTQ community celebrated gay pride month starting Thursday with the City Pulse Awards program at Spiral, then Friday at the White Party in three venues in Old Town; then Saturday, first with the annual Michigan Pride march and rally at the Capitol, followed by the festival in Old Town.

A large crowd waited out a rainstorm in front of the Capitol steps to hear a diverse list of speakers, led by Lansing Mayor Andy Schor. The children of gay community members and other young people were invited up the steps as well. (Photos above and right by Skyler Ashley of City Pulse; Andy Schor and flag courtesy Steve Frayre.)
