Kick off Halloween season in style with the Dark Art of Michigan Halloween Soiree. Two floors of vendors will flood Michigan Avenue with their ghoulish and gargoyle-esque creations.

Costumes aren’t required, but preferred.

Starting off the night will be a live painting demonstration from Sean Peters of the Eastside’s Eclectic Art Tattoo Gallery.

Band performances include Nonbinary, Cavalcade and Dead Daughters.

A special part of the evening includes the handing down of the Dark Arts of Michigan Ambassador crown from Tater Tot Noxious Emeritus to Asio Aviance.

Asio Aviance won the crown in a gender neutral horror movie themed beauty pageant in late July.

There will also be a costume contest.

Teal Quilt Project

The Teal Quilt Project is an effort to support Nassar survivors through messages of encouragement hand sewn and written into quilts by community members.

The goal of the organization is to present at least five quits as choices to each survivor.

At the event, participants can cut out fabric pieces and write encouraging messages on them as well as sew quilts.

Tables, chairs and supplies will be provided. Those interested in bringing sewing machines from home are welcome.

Artist Jane Reiter will host.
