Underground of Good
5:30 to 6:30 p.m.
Neighborhood Empowerment Center
600 W. Maple St., Lansing
TUESDAY, DEC. 11 — Falling under the umbrella of the Capital Region Community Foundation, Underground of Good focuses each quarter on a theme the capital region needs to address and the nonprofits who can make a difference.
This quarter, Underground of Good will focus on workforce development. Nominated nonprofits will make a three-minute speech and each Underground of Good member will vote for a favorite. The event is open to the public.
“We target young professionals, like minded and philanthropic who care about this region and want to give back with a bigger impact,” said Lisa Biering, Capital Region Community Foundation director of marketing and communication.
Membership is $500 a year with $100 going each quarter to a non-profit and $100 invested in the Community Foundation endowment fund.
“We are supporting these small nonprofits who have specific needs so having a gift with $3,000 with no strings attached makes a real change in their operations.”
Last quarter’s winner, the Capital Area Housing Partnership, was awarded $3,038.
Formed in 2013, Underground of Good donated over $34,000 to sixteen local nonprofits, according to its website.
