Nominations open for East Lansing Crystal Awards

MONDAY, Jan. 14 — Know any unsung heroes in East Lansing?

Nominations are now open for the city of East Lansing’s annual Crystal Awards, where those who make “outstanding contributions” to the community are honored for “passion and commitment to creating a healthy and vibrant community” and their ability to serve as an inspiration for others, according to a recent press release.

The four awards are selected by committee to highlight various individuals, businesses, nonprofits and/or community groups that have showcased their dedication to East Lansing. Recipients will be honored at a reception ceremony at 5 p.m., April 18, at the East Lansing Hannah Community Center, 819 Abbot Road.

Awards are doled out in two categories, community and business. Criterion includes: experience with volunteerism, diversity, service, creativity, innovation, leadership, entrepreneurialism and much more. Last year’s recipients included Jerry and Karen Jennings, Chris Root, Jeffrey Kusler and East Lansing Info.

The deadline to submit a nomination is Feb. 16; Forms may be submitted online at www.cityofeastlansing.com/crystalawards. Alternatively, paper nomination forms can be found at the East Lansing City Hall, the Community Center or the East Lansing Public Library. Call (517) 319-6823 for more details.
