December 5

East Lansing’s own rockstars, The Verve Pipe, return to the stage where it all began (well, sort of) next week with a gig at the recently resurrected and relocated Small Planet.
The alt-rock hitmakers and Michigan natives have been making records, independently and with RCA Records, since the early ‘90s, breaking out in the middle of that decade with singles “Photograph” and uber-hit “The Freshman.” Their latest CD release, “Underneath,” has been acclaimed by critics, and the band is expected to perform select hits from this and other CDs. 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 5. 18 . $15. Advance tickets available until 2 p.m. Dec. 5. (517) 351-6130. www.thesmallplanet.net.
