The East Lansing Arts Commission is offering artists an opportunity to make a lasting impression on East Lansing, with a call for proposals for a commissioned piece of public art honoring former East Lansing Councilwoman Mary P. Sharp.

The commission’s selection subcommittee of art experts will review the proposals and then make a recommendation to the commission, which will then make its recommendations to the City Council. The project is expected to be complete sometime in 2011. Proposal packets for artists are available at and must be submitted by Jan. 5, 2010.
