Eye candy owner I was delighted to see that Westminster Presbyterian Church was your featured "eye candy" of the week. Having served as a former pastor for 16 years, I have always been struck by the fact that it was an architectural gem. The building was actually modeled after a Lutheran Church in Detroit, so I have been told.

However, your reporter erred in naming Susan Cancro, Director of Advent House Ministries as the owner. It is true that Advent House occupies a fair amount of space in the building in its ministry to the homeless through its weekend day shelter and educational programs throughout the week. However, the owner is actually and technically The Presbytery of Lake Michigan (a presbytery is similar to a dioceses in other denominations). Perhaps if the writer had contacted the pastor, the Rev. Timothy Chon or one of the members, that misinformation could have been corrected.

The congregation is alive and well and continues to be a vital part of the city through its worship and community ministries. In addition to the building, the writer might have taken note of the stained class windows, which have an interesting story and add to the beauty of the building.
