Third annual Studio Crawl happens Thursday

Have you ever driven by that big green building on ClevelandSt. in Lansing and wondered to yourself, “What the heck is in there?” Here’syour chance to find out.

On Thursday, April 22 the third annual Studio Crawl,sponsored by the Mid-Michigan Creative Alliance, gives you the chance to visit12 different studios, including advertising agencies, print shops, photographystudios and film production houses.

Dominic Cochran, cinematographer and partner of Ahptic Film& Digital (the big green building on Cleveland), said the Studio Crawl isan opportunity to encourage people to see the creative side of Lansing.

“It’s an opportunity for our members to open their doors tothe public,” Cochran said. “Normally, our businesses are appointment-based, forour clients.”

When you pay the $7 fee, you get a map of each business andwhere they are located. You drive to each business on the map, and at eachbusiness you get a raffle ticket. After the crawl, there’s an after-party inRoom 319 of Gillespie Group’s Stadium District Suite; refreshments will beserved and raffle prizes will be given away, including some Lansing Lugnutstickets.

The Studio Crawl includes: Ahptic Film & Digital,CiesaDesign, Foresight Group, Hranilovich Illustration, MessageMakers, MotionMarketing & Media, Pace & Partners, Perspective 2, Queue Advertising,Redhead Design Studio, Rizzi Designs, LLC and Traction. Also included areworks from Michigan State University students in the college of communicationarts and sciences. The students rented out a space in Old Town to display theirprojects.

“The Crawl is oriented toward the general public,” Cochransaid. “It’s a common thing that people drive by and wonder what thesebusinesses are. So this is a chance for them to see the work that gets done.”

The Studio Crawl begins at 2 p.m. and goes until 6 p.m.,with the after-party from 6-8 p.m.
