Mother Goose moves in at Family Theater

Posted

Where can you find a 1950s drive-in, Mother Goose and Cecil B. DeMille (or Cecilia B. Demillstream) all in one place? Look no further than Mid Michigan Family Theatre.

MMFT presents two one-act plays — “Once Upon a Shoe” and “Drive-In” — this Friday and Saturday.

“‘Once Upon a Shoe’ is a good play for our younger actors,” said director and theater manager Bill Gordon. “We normally get a lot of younger people so the show’s ensemble (roles) give them an opportunity to do a variety of different things.

"Then ‘Drive-In’ is a little bit different, because it’s made up of teens. So we’ve been able to accommodate pretty much a wide range for all of our young people.”

"Once Upon a Shoe" stars Katie Parks as Mother Goose and Emma Stevenson as Cecilia B. Demillstream. An ensemble of eight other actors ranging in ages from eight to 12 comprise the rest of the cast.

"Drive-In," set in the 1950s, features an ensemble cast, including Jack Chapman, Will Cruitt, Faith Halick, Hannah Lentz, Connor McCue, Iris Raine, Heath Sartorius, Tommy Shauver and Cami Sigworth.

Mid Michigan Family Theater was established in 2008, and offers children’s drama camps in the summer and acting classes throughout the year.
