AnQi Sushi Express

No more ordering carry-out from East Lansing or the west side — the tiny shop on Allegan Street has brought downtown diners what they’ve been craving: sushi. Ernesto’s Hideaway

Ernesto’s Hideaway opened last February, filling the niche for a downtown convenience store. Manager Richard Pesino provides everything from potato chips to cigarettes, and is currently overseeing the construction of a small kitchen in the back. Geno’s Pizzeria

Owner Geno Abbey has captured the essence of East Coast-style pie. The dough is made fresh from scratch several times a day, the sauce is composed of hand-crushed San Marzano tomatoes (considered the world’s best for making sauces) flown in from Italy, and all vegetable toppings are garden-fresh. 208 S. The Grand Fish and Lansing Metro Marinas

For years, the Grand River has been criminally underused and unexplored by those living andworking downtown. Owner/operators Ken and Giselle Settimo are rightingthat wrong by providing pontoon tours from Old Town to Potter Park, andrenting canoes and kayaks to more adventurous folks. The Grand Fishalso features an outdoor kitchen area for rent, in which you can eitherpurchase light lunch fare or bring your own food for grilling.
