Applause Award and Business Arts Award nominees sought

The Arts Council of Greater Lansing is looking to honor contributors to the Greater Lansing area’s arts scene.

Two awards, based on nominations from the public, will be awarded to local arts advocates. The Arts Council Applause Award will be awarded to an individual based on their leadership, commitment, vision and support for local arts and culture. The Business Arts Award will go to a business that has demonstrated the same.

“It’s either through their contribution, know-how, or whatever support they’ve provided as a business,” said Leslie Donaldson, executive director for the Arts Council of Greater Lansing, a non-profit organization advocating arts and culture in the capital region. “We look at their nominations as they come in, at their documented support of the arts.”

Previous award winners for individuals include local radio news personality Walt Sorg, recognized for his contributions to numerous organizations, and Kevin and Laurie Draggoo. Business winners have included Sutton Advisors and Cooley Law School. Nomination forms are available on the documents page of the Arts Council of Greater Lansing's website  (www.lansingarts.org) or by
calling (517) 372-4636 or e-mailing katie@lansingarts.org.

Anyone from the tri-county region may be nominated, and nominations will be accepted through Nov. 12. The awards are an annual affair, and have been going on for 25 years.
