Capitol Area Performers stages Wilson’s 'Fences'

Capitol Area Performers performs August Wilson’s drama, "Fences" Friday, Dec. 10 and Saturday, Dec. 11, at the East Lansing Hannah Community Center Theater, 819 Abbot Road.

Set in 1950s Pittsburgh, "Fences" documents the life of Troy Maxson, a former Negro Baseball League star who is now a garbage collector. The play earned Wilson a Pulitzer Prize and was recently revived on Broadway with Denzel Washington and Viola Davis.

The Capital Area Performers cast features Bruce Wade as Troy and Tiffani Ferguson as his wife, Rose, who takes on the responsibility of being a mother to Raynell, the child Troy fathered with his late mistress.

Guy Thomas, Guy Stockard, Eric Jones, Jeremiah Hawkins, Sophia Simon and Roshawndra Thomas are also featured. "Fences" is directed by Vanessa Cunningham Sanders.

Showtimes are 7 p.m. Dec. 10 and 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Dec. 11. Tickets are $20; $15 for seniors and students. For more information, call (517) 643-2918 or email rcal@netzero.net.
