New owners, less clothes

Bar food, bikinis, private dances to rejuvenate the old Green House Bar

The old Green House Bar in south Lansing is set to reopen as a gentleman’s-club-type establishment featuring food, drinks, waitresses in bikinis and private dances.

Tini Bikinis, which has another location in downtown Grand Rapids, markets itself as a gentleman’s club where waitresses serve food and beverages in bikinis and offer private dances.

Owner Christopher Petrick is out of the country until mid-January, but his father, Steve Petrick, spoke on his behalf at a Dec. 6 General Services Committee to explain the operation to three Lansing City Council members and Assistant City Attorney Billie Jo O’Berry.

“It will be aimed toward drinking, and the menu geared toward bar food,” Petrick said, adding that screens will be put up to hide private dances.

O’Berry said since the dances will be private, Tini Bikinis does not violate the city’s indecent exposure ordinance.

Located just south of Interstate 496 off of Cedar Street, the Green House Bar closed in 2007 after being open 25 years, owner Clifford Green said.

“I’m all done. I’ve had my day,” Green said reflecting on his time operating the Green House. He suffered a heart attack in 2007 and closed down thereafter, he added. “Not much to say — lot of good days and a lot of bad days."

The City Council approved the transfer of ownership from Green to Petrick at Monday’s meeting. Petrick still needs his liquor license approved.
