Lynyrd Skynyrd, Trey Songz dated for July music festival

Posted

The first acts have been announced for this year’s Common Ground Music Festival, and music fans should prepare for a dose of classic rock from the legendary Lynyrd Skynyrd and a dash of contemporary R&B, courtesy of Trey Songz.

The 12th annual festival runs from July 11 to 17 in Lansing’s Adado Riverfront Park. Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday.

The smooth-voiced Songz, winner of BET’s best male R&B artist last year, was a headliner on Jay-Z’s “BP3” tour. He’ll perform July 11. On July 14, you’ll hear the expected cries of “Freebird!” as Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees Lynyrd Skynyrd amp up the crowd.

The festival utilizes multi-day passes for the entire week. If purchased before April 18, the weekly pass is $69; after that time, the price goes up to $79.

There are seating upgrade options available for both Lynyrd Skynyrd and Songz’s performances.

Common Ground also offers club tickets, which guarantee access to members-only areas, tented seating, reduced drink prices, special parking and more. The week-long club pass is $350, and single-day club passes are $125, while supplies last.

Children 10 and under are free when accompanied by a ticketed adult. Tickets can be purchased at Star Tickets outlets, at the Common Ground office at 901 N. Washington Ave, online at commongroundfest.com, or by phone at (800) 585- 3737.
