Tuesday, May 3 -- If you're eager to see the Tony-winning musical "Memphis," with star-making performances by Chad Kimball and Montego Glover, you don't necessarily have to head for Broadway. The show will be presented at 7:30 p.m. tonight on the big screen at Goodrich Lansing Mall Cinemas, 921 Mall Drive West, in Lansing.

Set in the 1950s, "Memphis" follows a white radio DJ who becomes caught up in the fledgling civil rights movement through his love of R&B and his admiration of the African-American musicians and dancers around him in Memphis. The cinematic presentation includes not only the Broadway show but also a behind-the-scenes look at the musical. "Memphis" has a running time of approximately 165 minutes.

Tickets are $17 (there is a $1 surcharge for online ordering) and can be purchased at the Goodrich Quality Theatres website.

The tour of "Memphis" will stop at the Wharton Center March 27-April 1, 2012. For information, visit the Wharton Center website.
