Thursday, Aug. 25 — Lansing City Attorney Brig Smith said today that the state Appeals Court’s ruling that effectively bans medical marijuana dispensaries will be aggressively enforced.

“I intend to send letters to medical marihuana establishments apprising them of the ruling and directing them immediately to cease any activities that are not in compliance with the Michigan Medical Marihuana Act, as interpreted by the Court of Appeals,” Smith said in a written statement he issued around 5:30 p.m.

“This action will be closely followed by enforcement of the law to ensure compliance within the jurisdiction of the City of Lansing,” he added.Smith also said that in light of the court’s ruliing, “most, if not all, of the medical marihuana establishments operating in the City of Lansing are illegal.”

Earlier, Lansing Mayor Virg Bernero issued a statement denouncing the court ruling. Meanwhile, most dispensaries were closed, and those that were open did not appear to be selling marijuana. For more on this story, see http://www.lansingcitypulse.com/lansing/article-6265-ridiculous-law.html.
