Guest chefs visit Kellogg Hotel and Conference Center

Tuesday, Aug. 30 — Michigan State University’s Kellogg Hotel and Conference Centerhosts the talents of three culinary experts as a part of its fall semestervisiting chef series that kicks off on Sept. 21 and 22, and continues Oct. 19 and 20 and Nov. 9 and 10.

The two-night events begin with a chef-ledcooking demonstration on Wednesdays, followed by a Thursday evening dinner with the chef.

“This series exposes folks from this community to differenttypes of cuisines and other ways of dealing with basic staples like beef,chicken and fish,” says Kellogg Center general manager Joel Heberlein.

The Wednesday evenings are educational in nature. Guests will learn kitchen tips, tricksand hints and have the opportunity to ask the chefs questions as they prepare adish.

“If you’re into cooking and into 'how-to’s, you’ll want toget to the Wednesday demonstrations,” Heberlein says. “If you have a question, you can interrupt and ask. When tasting, if you don’t understandflavors, you can ask.”

Chef Robetro Madrid of the Westin Kierland Resort and Spa inScottsdale, Ariz., will host the September dates. Chef David Padberg of the Park Kitchen in Portland, Ore.,visits on Oct. 19 and 20. ChefHoward Hanna of The Rieger Hotel Grill & Exchange in Kansas City, Miss.,will be in town on Nov. 9 and 10.
