Annual Teddy Bear Picnic takes place Saturday at 4H Children's Garden

Wednesday, Sept. 28 — If you go down to the Michigan 4H Children’s GardenSaturday, you’re sure of a big surprise — unless, that is, you’re prepared forthe sixth annual Teddy Bear Hospital and Picnic, co-sponsored by the Michigan State University Department of Pediatrics & Human Development and the MSUChildren’s Health Initiative.

Bring your teddy (or the stuffed animal of your choice) tothe 4H Children’s Garden from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. If your toy has any injuries,MSU pediatricians and medical students are on hand to make repairs. It’spart of a strategy to help kids deal with worries and concerns about their own medicalcheck-ups and treatments.

Also participating in the Picnic: the MSU Women’s basketballteam (with head coach Suzy Merchant) and MSU mascot Sparty, as well as theSpartan Marching Band. Informational booths will provide updates on everythingfrom audiology and speech pathology to sports medicine, and a picnic lunch willbe served. The 4H Children's Garden is located on the MSU campus.
