Wednesday, Nov. 11 — Dancer/choreographer Jose Porcel will give uncoordinated
Midwestern hip-shakers a crash course in rhythm when he brings “Gypsy Fire” to
the Wharton Center Tuesday.
Porcel, formerly of the National Ballet of Spain, learned
folkloric dances and flamenco when he was a teenager. The flamenco he and his
company Compania Flamenca perform is said to be the most traditional form of
the dance, which comes from the Andalusia region in the south of Spain.
The program is preceded by a Preview Lecture 45 minutes
before the performance and a question-and-answer session.
