MSU Choral Union announces auditions

Posted

Tuesday, Jan. 3 — Feel like singing? The Michigan State University Choral Union wants to hear from you.

The group holds auditions for its spring 2012 season at 6 p.m. Jan. 11 and 18, in the MSU Campus in Room 165 of the Communication Arts and Sciences Building, at the southeast corner of Red Cedar and Wilson roads.

The Choral Union is conducted by David Rayl, director of choral programs at MSU. It is made up of adults singers from the greater Lansing area, and rehearsals are held from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesdays from mid-January through April. Members are required to pay a $45 registration fee per semester, as well as the cost of their musical scores.

Auditionees should be prepared to vocalize and sing the first verse of "The Star Spangled Banner." The first rehearsal will also be held on Jan. 11, so those auditioning should be prepared to stay for rehearsal that evening.

No appointment is necessary, but singers are asked to arrive at 6 p.m. for a general information session. Previous choral singing experience is desirable, but not required.

The Choral Union's spring season includes performances of the Faure Requiem and the Beethoven Ninth Symphony with the MSU Symphony Orchestra. For more information, contact musgrad@msu.edu, or call (517) 353-9122.
