Tuesdays with Elvis

Enjoy a 'Million Dollar' lunch — and a preview of the next Wharton Center musical

Posted

Friday, Jan. 6 — If you wanted to have lunch with Johnny Cash, Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Perkins, you could consult a medium — or you could simply head over to the Christman Company University training center Tuesday afternoon for a sneak preview of "Million Dollar Quartet."

The musical, which opens Tuesday at the Wharton Center, recalls the afternoon in 1956 when the four rock legends met up at the studios of Sun Records for an impromptu recording session. Cast members Derek Keeling (who plays Cash), Martin Kaye (Lewis), Cody Slaughter (Presley) and Lee Ferris (Perkins) will warm up for the show's week-long East Lansing run with a half-hour concert, beginning at noon. The training center is located at 208 N. Capital Ave. in Lansing.

Admission is free, but pre-registration is required to save seats. Email your request to RSVP@whartoncenter.com. Tickets for "Quartet" performances are on sale now at whartoncenter.com, the Auto-Owners Ticket Office, or by calling (800) WHARTON.
