(SCENE) Metrospace offers a chance for artists to get some food and funding at the same time

Tuesday, March 6 — Think of it as Kickstarter without the Web: (SCENE) Metrospace is launching East Lansing Sunday Soup, a micro-funding event series for local artists in need of financial help.

Proposals are being accepted for the first session, which is set for March 18. They should include the artist’s name, email address and a 500-word or less description of the planned project. The information should be emailed to by March 14.

The proposals will be presented to attendees at the March 18 meeting at (SCENE), which begins at noon. Soup will be served. There is a $5 cover charge, and a single artist — chosen by the audience — will take home a hefty piece of the collected cash at the end of the afternoon. Artists presenting proposals should plan on attending the event to make a presentation about their concepts.

(SCENE) Metrospace is located at 110 Charles Street in East Lansing. For more information, visit or the (SCENE) Metrospace blog.
