LGBT-friendly (and not so much) candidates

Political candidates get ranked and endorsed by LGBT community

Posted

Wednesday, Oct. 3 — The Lansing Association of Human Rights, an organization advocating for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender equality, released candidate ratings this week for the 2012 elections.

The ratings, which include national, state and local candidates, are based on a LAHR PAC questionnaire as well as telephone calls, the candidates’ voting records and public statements related to the LGBT community. Candidates who did not receive a rating are not listed here. (Spoiler alert: You’ll notice a correlation between positive and negative ratings and Democrats and Republicans. If no party affiliation is included, it means it is a non-partisan race.)

Along with the LAHR candidate ratings, Equality Michigan, a statewide LGBT advocacy group, released its list of endorsed candidates earlier this week.
