Part of the art: Day 6

Broad Art Museum photo project still looking for public participation

Posted

Monday, Nov. 19 — A photo project launched as part of the opening of the Eli and Edythe Broad Art Museum will continue seeking public participation through Dec. 14.

More than 300 people have had their portrait taken as part of “The Gift: Lansing, Michigan,” a project by photographic artist Jochen Gerz, which will result in a wall of framed black and white photos at the museum. It was commissioned by the MSU Arts Department and City Pulse.

Participants can still have their portraits taken for the project at the Broad Art Museum on Grand River Avenue on Fridays between Nov. 30 and Dec. 14 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.

When the exhibit is over, all participants will be called and given a portrait — but not their own — to take home and hang. Hence the name, “The Gift.”
