What to do for New Year’s Eve in Greater Lansing

Friday, Dec. 28 — If you’re still searching for a party to help ring in the New Year next week, here’s a list of Lansing-area venues that are hosting some ball-dropping bashes with music, booze and food.

Noon Year’s Eve
Looking to get the kids tuckered out before midnight hits? From 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Play in East Lansing, 4972 Northwind Drive, there will be festivities for the younger crowd. For $10, every attendee will be treated to games, music and more. Adults get in free.

Mac’s Bar Goddamn New Year’s Eve
Mac’s Bar, 2700 E. Michigan Ave., features bands, beer, party favors, hor d’oeuvres and a chocolate fountain. What more could you want? Be there at 9 p.m. with $10 in your pocket and get ready for a goddamn party.

Red Carpet Event
Get your reservations in early for a four-course meal, champagne toast and music from the Irish folk band, The Billies at Gracie’s Place, 151 S. Putnam, in Williamston. Be there at 5 p.m. to start the celebrating.

New Year’s Eve Dinner
Ring in 2013 with a 14-course meal at Red Haven, 4480 S. Hagadorn Road. There are two seatings available at 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. The cost is $120 for the meal and $95 for the vegans out there.

Les Danseurs New Year’s Eve Dance
If you want to get ritzy, check out the Grand Ledge Country Club’s festivities. DJ Ed VerSchure will be playing the tunes, and everyone is asked to bring an appetizer to pass. 8:30 p.m., $50 per couple. 5811 E. St. Joseph Hwy.

New Year’s Eve Contra Dance
At the Central United Methodist Church, 215 N. Capitol Ave., you can join in a potluck and dancing as part of the Ten Pound Fiddle concert series. Playing the music will be the contemporary folk band, Fiddlefire. Show up at 6:30 p.m. for some partnered folk dancing and food. Admission prices vary from $8 to $18.

Comedian Mikey Mason

Self-described “geek, fanboy and comedy rock star,” Mikey Mason will be performing standup at Connxtions Comedy Club, 2900 N. East St. in Lansing. There will be prime rib dinner at 6 p.m. and a champagne toast at 10:30 p.m. It’s a reserved seating event that’ll run you $39.

NYE 2013 at Tavern on the Square
DJ Ruckus will be providing the beats up to the midnight toast. It’s $10 to get in and there will be an appetizer buffet starting at 9 p.m. 206 S. Washington Square in Lansing.

Countdown on the Square
At Troppo, 101 S. Washington Square, you’ve got two options: You can have a dinner for two from 4 p.m. to midnight for $95 a couple. That includes, two glasses of champagne, antipasti, two salads and entrees and a dessert to share. If you’re not in the dining mood, show up at 9 p.m. for the Countdown Party, which, for $25, will feature a ball drop, a champagne toast at midnight and a steak and seafood buffet at midnight.

NYE Celebration at The Loft
Head to The Loft, 414 E. Michigan Ave., at 9 p.m. for appetizers, a midnight toast and party favors. Party hosts DPG request that all guests be at least 30 years old and dress to impress. $25 if you’re flying solo or $40 per couple.

Shatter in the New Year
Bar 30 in Eastwood Towne Center will feature music, champagne and a pancake buffet at 2 a.m. Want to know the best part? It’s free. 2324 Showtime Drive.

NYE Celebration Party at CB’s Bucket Bar & Grille
CB’s Bucket Bar & Grille, 132 W. Grand River Ave., will feature live music, champagne and a breakfast buffet. Show at 9 p.m. with $13 and you’re in.

New Year’s Eve Bash at the Unicorn Tavern
Frog and the Beeftones bring their blues and classic rock to the Unicorn Tavern in Old Town, 327 E. Grand River Ave. The party goes from 9 p.m. to 2:30 a.m.
