City Pulse supports acclaimed British drama

Posted

Friday, Jan. 4 — Last week, the web erupted when “Downton Abbey” actor Rob James Collier made an outrageous claim about season 3 of the acclaimed series, which debuts Sunday on WKAR-TV.

He said that a multi-episode story arc was axed in which his character, Thomas Barrow, develops a relationship with a — get this — unicorn. We’re pretty sure Collier is screwing with us, but what better way to get the Internet buzzing about a stuffy British drama than “Harry Potter”-izing it?

This being public television and all, “Downton Abbey” wouldn’t be possible without local support. So in the tradition of supporting cultured entertainment (fun fact: Guinness World Records recently honored “Downton” as having the “Highest Critical Review Ratings For A TV Show”), City Pulse is underwriting the show’s third season — magical creatures or not.

The series is set in the fictional Downton Abbey, a Yorkshire country house that is the seat of the Earl and Countess of Grantham. It follows the lives of the aristocratic Crawley family and their servants during the reign of King George V.

The first episode of season 3 airs on WKAR-TV at 9 p.m. on Sunday. In the meantime, check out the promo here.
