The new Broad Art Museum reaches out to MSU students

Thursday, Jan. 10 — The Eli and Edythe Broad Art Museum has created an event to engage the new crop of incoming students. The “MSU students take over the Broad” event is designed to promote student interest and involvement. This interactive event, running 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday, enables attendees to make art in the Broad photo booth, color Broad Museum posters and enjoy food, music and drinks.

All MSU students with a valid student ID are invited. “We’re spotlighting student DJs and also student organizations by representing their art on our walls that night,” said museum Manager of Education Leyna Lightman. She says she hopes to provide a fun and informative environment for students on their first weekend after the beginning of classes. All student organizations were invited to decorate a party poster on behalf of their organization.

The museum is promoting the Broad student membership, a $25 annual membership that helps pay for operation costs, art acquisitions and artists’ visits. Student members also enjoy exclusive access to events and previews to certain exhibitions.
