Phase one wraps up

Second phase of voting in Top of the Town awards starts in March

Posted

Wednesday, Feb. 6 — The first round of the 2013 City Pulse/WLNS Top of the Town awards closed Tuesday night, but the contest is far from over. In March, for the first time ever, the top five nominees will go through one last round in the “Final Five” round.

This year’s contest features seven main categories and 88 subcategories. The first round of voting clocked in 13,149 voters and 5,853 nominees.

The “Final Five” round will only allow the top five nominees in each subcategory on the ballot. This final phase will determine the Top 3 nominees, who will then be invited to the Top of the Town awards ceremony in April where the winners will be announced. The ceremony is also open to the public.

For those unfamiliar, the City Pulse/WLNS Top of the Town Awards is an annual contest where our readers vote for their favorite people and businesses in the greater Lansing area. Check out last year’s winners here.
