Pride, no prejudice

Friday, June 7 — Michigan Pride hosts its annual White Party tonight at various venues around Lansing. The event is part of Pride Month, highlighting the causes of the LGBT community.

Beginning at 6 p.m., attendees can purchase a $10 wristband at any one of the venues, granting them all night access to the four venues hosting the event: Marquee Lounge, Spiral Dance Bar, Esquire and Sir Pizza/Grand Caf. Attendees are asked to where all-white clothing. Patrons who purchase wristbands can come and go throughout the four venues.

The Michigan Pride march, rally and festival, which usually occurs in June to correspond with Pride Month, was moved to August this year. According to a press release from pridesource.org, the move is expected to increase attendance for a variety of reasons, and it will enable the march and rally to reach more legislators since they will be back to work then.

Performing live music at the Marquee Lounge will be DJ Rodney Lamar Page, who mixes his traditional music with a live dubstep-violin accompaniment. For more information, visit the Michigan Pride Facebook page.
